Now Showing in Philippine Cinemas this last days of December 2013

Philippines have this tradition to only show Philippine movies on December 25 until first week of January.  This has been a move done by the Metro Manila Development Authority to save the local film industry.

They give awards for the best local film entry for the festival.  This also includes cash prizes.

Movies now showing in the Philippines:

  • Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel
  • PagPag
  • Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy
  • Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir
  • My Little Bossings
  • 10,000 Hours
  • Kaleidoscope World
  • Boy Golden

It's a mix bag, there is horror, biography, comedy, drama, thriller, and action from all this movie entries.

Happy New Year, everyone.  My next update will be in the year 2014.  Until next year.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - Movie Review

Saw "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" on it's first opening week.  I have to say it is better than the first, if you saw the first part of this movie. Although I think this movie, does not know what it wants to be at times.  You still have head decapitation, then cutesy dwarf intricate actions.  Which make me question who is exactly is their audience?

How was the Visuals?
Visuals are good, although it's really cheesy on the camera angles at times.  You will think the angles are taken that way as if to make you awe at the action sequence.

How was the Story?
Story was good, and they made the right decision to create a new character, that is not in the book to make it more interesting.  You won't notice the changes if you haven't read the book.

How was it overall?
Overall, I rate it a 4 out of 5 stars.  It's better than the first, and far more entertaining.  But will not keep you awake if you are sleepy.

If you haven't seen it yet, see it in 3D, most say it is better viewed that way, especially the dragon scenes.  This movie is almost 3 hours long...

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Now Showing in Philippine Cinemas

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is now showing in Philippine Cinemas.  Expect to see long lines during the weekend on ticketbooths, since this is a blockbuster movie.

The movie opened last December 11 here in the Philippines, ahead than most countries.  But since we will have our Metro Manila Film Fest this coming December 25, it is better most people have already watch their fill of foreign films.  Since during the Metro Manila Film Fest, no foreign film will be shown in cinemas in Metro Manila, only local films.

Will give a review once I see it.

Currently Showing in Philippine Cinemas, this first week of December 2013

Now Showing in Philippine Cinemas:

  • The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
  • Delivery Man
  • Call Center Girl [Filipino Movie - Comedy]
  • Ender's Game
  • Hours
  • Frozen [Computer Animation - For the Kids]
  • When the Love is Gone [Filipino Movie - Drama]

Surprisingly, there are a lot of new movies this week, after a week of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire dominating the cinemas.

I'm thinking of watching Ender's Game soon, even though it is shown late (about a couple of weeks) here in the Philippines.
