The Incredible Burt Wonderstone: Movie Review

I was able to watch the movie "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone", yes it's a comedy.  In a sentence, I can say it's a popcorn movie.  You don't have to think much to enjoy it, and it gives you a few laughs with an easy, predictable story.  As expected from Jim Carrey and Steve Carell movie, you learn something and laugh over their hi-jinks

I like the movie, but would I watch it again? The answer is a maybe, just to see Jim Carrey make an ass of himself.

How was the visual?

Visually the movie was good.  It's not a high computer visual movie, but you know there is some in it.  The camera work is good, so is the editing.

How was the story?

Story is the typical story of someone, forgetting their roots.  Where in someone has been on the top for so long, just to fall from grace, and have to learn to cope with their failure and rise up again.

It's the usual Hollywood story, even kids will know they have seen it a couple of times before.  So yeah, there isn't much twist and turns to this movie, but the writing is good.  Dialogue is natural, story is coherent and easy to follow.

How was the movie overall?

Overall, I give this movie a 3.5 out of 5 stars. The story is nothing new, it's almost not that fresh but still a good movie to enjoy.  I think, the target audience of this movie are the Jim Carrey fans, teens, and people in their early 20's.  Although, kids may enjoy this, but there are some scenes, that are not for kids.  So if you plan to watch this with kids, they will probably enjoy it, or they will ask you lots of questions during and after the movie.

OZ: the Great and Powerful - Movie Review

I was able to see this movie on it's second week in cinemas.  Oz: The Great and Powerful, is a movie for all ages.  I find it fun and interesting movie to watch.

All I can say, the target audience for this movie is probably kids.  I know kids will love this film and leave the cinema in awe.

How was the visuals?

Visuals were stunning.  I know the target medium for this film was 3D, but I watched it on ordinary film, it looks impressive on 2D, what more if you saw it in 3D?

How was the story?

Story was predictable, given it's trying to live up to the Wizard of Oz movie.  It pretty much is following on that formula.  And it being a prequel, you pretty much know the ending.

How was it Overall?

Overall, I give this movie a 4 out of 5 stars.  The reason is that, although the visuals are good, there is something lacking in the movie.  But Overall, this is one fun movie.  I laughed during the movie and appreciate it being light-heart at its best.

It's a good movie to watch and escape reality for about a couple of hours.  A recommended film for me, go watch it with the kids.  The kids will enjoy it, if they have an open mind and smart enough to understand some of the grown-up jokes.

Silver Linings Playbook: Movie Review

I was able to watch a new movie, again, on its first week being shown in Philippine cinemas.  The movie title is Silver Linings Playbook, which we choose to watch since Jennifer Lawrence (the Best Actress winner in the recent Oscars) was in it.

All I can say at this point, is don't expect it to be like a blockbuster movie, since you will be in for a big disappointment.  I have watch most of Bradley Cooper's, the leading man, movies and most of them are just good movies and not blockbusters (Except for the Hangover movies).

How was the visuals?

The visuals was good. Nothing special, the usual you would expect from a drama.  It's not bad, it shows an american community as it usually is in reality.  None of those over the top clean, big and grand buildings.

How was the story?

Story was very good, not your typical romance, drama.  There is a nice feeling after the movie, since almost all romantic films do have a happy ending.  Story has originality, but nearing the end it the usual formula of guy chasing the girl and happy ending.

How was it overall?

I give this film a 3 out of 5 stars, for the reason the film was kind of boring in the beginning, and took a lot of time to gain some steam and somehow looked like a copy of any other romantic film in the end.

Previous Episode of the Walking Dead was great

The previous episode I saw of the walking dead last week was the best so far this season,  the episode where the Governor attacked Rick Grimes' camp.  I wasn't expecting a person to die that time.  This is where the series is totally different form the comics.

I can't wait for the next episode this weekend.
